Choosing Private Duty Services can be confusing and getting started is sometimes the hardest part! Let us help you begin by offering some important questions to ask when interviewing providers.
What is Private Duty care?
Private Duty care sometimes referred to as custodial care, is medical and non-medical care paid for privately. Medicare does not cover these services however today, many long term care insurance plans do. An individual does not need a physician’s order to initiate these services. Private duty can be companion services; such as transportation, light housekeeping and meal preparation or a higher level of care like a home health aide or nurse.
When will I know it is time to get help in my home?
One of the best reasons to ask for help is safety. Do you or your loved one feel unsafe living alone? Are you or your loved one having difficulty preparing food or bathing? Are you unable to manage your medications and take them as prescribed? Are you unable to safely get out to do your grocery shopping or errands? If you answered yes to just one of the above, it is probably time to look at getting some assistance.
With private duty services, will I be able to stay in my own home?
Yes. Private Duty services are available to help individuals stay at home for as long as possible, no matter where they live. With Nightingale Private Duty Nursing services can be scheduled for as little as two hours to 24/7. The office can be reached 24 hours a day.
How is my caregiver selected?
At Nightingale, we do an assessment of the client’s needs including medical information, personal interests and hobbies and a personality profile. This information helps Nightingale find the best fit for a caregiver for each individual.
