I had always been an independent, active 83-year-old woman who had the good fortune to be able to help others when they needed it. So it was rather shocking to find myself needing help after I developed complications from radiation therapy and ended up in the hospital.
After five days, the hospital discharged me to go home with twenty-four hour care. I knew getting that kind of help in place was going to be a feat and an imposition on my family and friends. I sincerely did not want that, so my daughter called Nightingale Private Duty Nursing.
I had care around the clock immediately. The aides took care of all of my needs and best of all, adapted to my routine. With Nightingale’s help and support I slowly regained my strength and independence. I continue to use a caregiver from Nightingale five days a week. She helps with errands, meal preparation and drives me to and from my appointments. I always look forward to her visits.
