About Nightingale

Florence NightingaleNightingale Private Duty Nursing's namesake is Florence Nightingale, a pioneer of modern nursing practices. In the 1850's, Florence Nightingale left London for the battlefields of Turkey to care for soldiers of the Crimean War, and under her guidance and reforms the mortality rate quickly dropped. Upon her return to England, Florence Nightingale continued to implement nursing reforms and to train nurses, helping to bring about the professional status of nurses seen today.

At Nightingale Private Duty Nursing, we are challenged to continue Florence Nightingale's legacy of bringing help where it is needed by promoting nursing education and by training our employees to the highest standards of care.

Training in Excellence

Nightingale Private Duty Nursing is the only healthcare agency in Indian River County that provides home health aide training in-house. Our classes are taught by Rita Richardson, RN, an instructor with over forty years experience teaching Home Health Aides and developing strong ties to Indian River County. In the 1960's, she organized a nursing assistant program at Indian River Community College, and later instituted a CNA/HHA curriculum for Adult Education in Vero Beach. As a result of these programs, she has been responsible for educating nearly 2400 students in the field of home heath care.

Under Mrs. Richardson's guidance, our students learn the proper methods for patients. Our classroom not only presents scholastic challenges, but also provides a full clinical setting with hospital bed, walkers, wheelchairs, etc. for hands-on experience and the highest quality training for our students.

At Nightingale Private Duty Nursing, we strive to provide our clients with a variety of Services that meet every need.
