Employment with Nightingale
Home care is the number one job opportunity in the country, and there is a strong need here in Indian River County for highly qualified, caring Home Health Aides and nurses. Nightingale Private Duty Nursing is always looking to hire motivated individuals who have a caring, positive attitude and a desire to help. We provide training to those who are interested in beginning a rewarding career in home health care, and accept applications from those who are already certified as an HHA, LPN or RN.

As a licensed nursing agency, Nightingale Private Duty Nursing provides workers compensation insurance for its employees, and all employees are bonded and insured. Ready to get started?
You will need the following in order to apply to Nightingale.
- Current Driver's License
- Current Car Insurance
- Social Security Card, Work Permit, or Alien Card
- Home Health Aide Certificate of 75 hours or more
- HIV Initial Certificate (2-4 hours) and HIV Update for Current Year (Nightingale can provide you with both in-services, if necessary)
- Current OSHA Certificate & 2 hours Alzheimer's In-service (Nightingale can provide these)
- Current Physical (less than six months from hire date)
- In-services for Current Year (if any)
- Functional Ability Screening (arranged by Nightingale at time of employment)
- CPR Certification (classes are provided by Nightingale once a month. The class is open to anyone, but spaces are limited. The fee is $45.00 and the certification is good for two years.)
In addition to the above requirements, we also require an interview, a background check, and a drug screening for all new employees.
Employment Training Opportunities
Once you have successfully undergone an interview and a background check, there is a 75 hour Home Health Aide course available. We are the only healthcare agency in Indian River County that trains its own employees, ensuring that you will be taught in the proper methods of caring for patients. You will receive hands-on training in our classroom, as well as covering topics such as
- Systems of the Body
- Infection Control
- Documentation
- Communication
This is an accelerated class taught over nine sessions, and requires effort and study on your part in order to be successful. However, upon successful completion of the course, you will begin a 90-day probationary work period for Nightingale, putting your class work into practice.
